Brutus is an adorable 2 year old bullmastiff who lives with his human parents in Northern California.

Like any other dog, Brutus ate, tore apart, destroyed many different toys in his life, except for one – a fluffy, yellow ball.

This is his favorite toy and he is not ready to part with it, so he treats it as carefully as possible.

“We got Brutus as a puppy and he became our first child,” says Bonnie Michalek, the owner of the dog.

Shortly after Brutus appeared, Bonnie became pregnant. The behavior of the dog has changed a lot.

“Apparently, he understood what was happening to me even before my belly had grown a lot. My husband worked the night shift and Brutus stopped sleeping in his crate. Every night he came and tried to climb onto my bed.

If I drove him away, then he certainly slept next to me on the floor. Then I was angry with him for such behavior. But now I understood – he became the main one in the house and guarded me”.

When Kayden, the baby, was born, the Michalek family had no doubts about whether to introduce Brutus to the child immediately or later. As soon as the mother and baby arrived from the hospital, they were met by Brutus.

From the very first day, Brutus realized what responsibility was placed on his shoulders. He tried not to move away from Kayden, always leaving him in his field of vision.

The boy’s parents were amazed by the fact that when Kayden began to cry, Brutus immediately figured out how to calm him down. Without hesitation, he went to the other room and brought his biggest treasure for the child – a fluffy, yellow ball.

“My husband and I were incredibly moved when we saw what Brutus did for Kayden. Our son seems to have the best older brother in the world,” says Bonnie.
