In the litter of a German Shepherd, nine puppies were born, one of them was without a front paw.
The poor boy was named Dan.
The breeders did not hesitate to offer to euthanize the puppy so that this flaw would not tarnish the reputation of the kennel, but the owner of the dog, Karen Riddle, refused such an extreme measure.
Instead, the woman decided to give the animal a chance to become happy and find a loving family.
Karen thought that if she found a special child or a wounded soldier, then the dog would be perfect for such an owner.
There was also an idea to make a therapist dog out of Dan, so that the dog would help with rehabilitation for those who had lost a limb.
But life has changed.
At this point, the lady learns the story of Sapphyre Johnson, a three-year-old girl who was born without legs.
The child was in the hospital and Karen deliberately decided to try to connect these two.
Moreover, Karen managed to talk to the girl’s parents, who accepted the idea with enthusiasm and agreed that Sapphire and Dan would be the perfect couple.
The first time Karen Riddle showed the girl a picture of a dog, the little girl looked at the dog for a moment and said,
“This is my puppy. He’s just like me!”
A woman specializing in children with special needs, Elaine Hardin, says: “Dan is a special dog and he will have a special child.”
When the girl and the puppy met in reality, they quickly became friends.
Sapphyre’s father lit up with joy, watching how his little girl began to play with the puppy with interest, throwing him a toy.
Destiny has definitely brought the two together, Dan will help Sapphyre make friends and feel more confident with her disability.
After learning the dog’s story, the prosthetist engineers offered to make Dan a prosthetic leg similar to Sapphyre’s legs.
The puppy has found a home and a loving family, and the girl has found a true true friend.
