Many things in life appear to be difficult and tragic, but these two small heroines demonstrate that anything is possible with a strong will and the ability to overcome obstacles.
The fact that Erin and Abby were born with joint heads affected their lives. The problem, it turned out, was far deeper, because the doctors assumed the babies shared a single brain. The procedure would endanger their lives, and taking that initial step would be a great responsibility.
Even more stunning was the discovery that the girls’ brains did not develop normally, possibly due to their mixed status. So, despite the significant dangers, the physicians decided to proceed with the operation. The sisters were only 11 months old at the time, making them the world’s tiniest separated twins.
Everything was done by the doctors to save the twins’ lives, and everything worked out in the end. The newborns were given a fresh start in life and childhood. Despite having to remain under medical monitoring for an extended period of time, they were able to overcome their challenges and continue to develop their brain functions.
They are now well and happy, and we wish them the best in their future endeavors.
