Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Archie and Lilibet Diana, have had their birth certificates revealed with some interesting details.

Archie’s birth certificate listed their titles as “His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David, Duke of Sussex” and “Rachel Meghan, Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Sussex.”

However, Lilibet Diana’s birth certificate includes different name signatures. Harry wrote “The Duke of Sussex,” but Meghan signed as “Rachel Meghan Markle” without her royal title.

Lilibet’s nickname comes from Queen Elizabeth II, and her middle name, Diana, is a tribute to Prince Harry’s mother.

While they were officially recognized as royalty in the UK when Prince Charles ascended to the throne in September 2022, Harry and Meghan have said that their children will decide for themselves if they want to be royal.

The couple had previously agreed with Queen Elizabeth not to use their titles, “His and Her Highness,” after stepping down from royal duties.

Lilibet Diana had a chance to meet her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, at the Diamond Jubilee Celebration in June 2022.

Prior to the Invictus Games in April, her parents had visited the United Kingdom, where they met with Queen Elizabeth. “Being with her, it was great. It was just so nice to see her,” Harry shared during an interview with Today at the time. “She’s in great form. She’s always got a great sense of humor with me… It was really nice to catch up with her.”

In the Netflix documentary series about Meghan and Harry, Lilibet is featured, showing the couple’s desire to create a different family dynamic than what they experienced in their own childhoods.

Archie and Lilibet’s birth certificates reveal interesting differences in how their parents chose to list their names and titles. The couple has left it to their children to decide if they want to embrace their royal heritage.
