Every day, veterinarians at the Sungurlu Pet Veterinary Clinic in Turkey receive visits from people seeking care for their beloved animals. But this week, a different sort of customer appeared at their door.
It was a local stray cat, and in her mouth she was carrying a kitten.
When staff at the clinic moved in for a closer look, they realized that the kitten had an eye infection — and that the furry mother was asking for their help.
“The cat’s maternal instinct to take care of her kitten made us very happy and emotional,” a spokesperson for the clinic told The Dodo.
Without hesitating, the veterinarians began their treatment:
Fortunately, the infection wasn’t found to be too difficult to combat, and before long, both mother and baby were soon on their way.
“We are optimistic about the results of the treatment we gave,” the spokesperson said.
But the little family didn’t travel far. Instead, they settled in a vacant lot adjacent to the clinic.
The mother cat isn’t a paying customer, of course. But for staff at the Sungurlu Pet Veterinary Clinic, helping the little family comes as its own reward.
“Their treatment is still ongoing and they are under our supervision. They are very happy,” the spokesperson said. “As veterinarians, we did our best to ensure that this creature’s health improves and recovers, and since veterinary medicine is a profession that requires compassion, we are committed to helping all animals, regardless of whether they are strays or pets.”
