The actress of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” paid tribute to her late mother, Jayne Mansfield, on what would have been her 90th birthday by posting an adorable throwback picture of her mother in her prime as a pin-up girl in Hollywood.

“Happy birthday Mama,” was the message that Hargitay, who is 59 years old, added to the photo. “Every day that passes, we find new reasons to love you.”

Additionally, Hargitay posted a two-second video to her Instagram Story that showed her mother dressed to the nines. Mansfield raises her head and glances to the side, but she does not speak a word during the whole conversation.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Mansfield had parts in movies such as The Girl Can’t Help It and Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? which helped establish her as a sex icon in Hollywood. She was 37 years old when she was killed in a vehicle accident.

When the collision occurred, Hargitay and two of her siblings were riding in the rear seat of the vehicle.

Despite the fact that all three children managed to escape the ordeal, Hargitay, who was only three years old when it took place, continues to struggle with the aftereffects of it.

She told Glamour in 2021, “I think I learned about crisis very young, and I learned very young that s— happens and there are no guarantees, and we keep going,” she said.

Hargitay also said that she has devoted a significant amount of her time to attempting to recover from the traumatic experience of losing her mother. “I clearly was in that frozen place for a lot of my childhood — of trying to survive, actually trying to survive,” she continued. “I had no choice but to try to survive.” “My life has been a process of unpeeling the layers and trusting and trusting again.”
