You may or may not remember a time when Michael Jackson was “The King of Pop.”
His music and his dance moves took the world by storm, long after his career began as a member of the Jackson 5. Michael Jackson’s solo career is one of the most prolific and influential of all time.
Different fans remember different periods of Michael’s astounding career. So many of his singles and albums shot to the top of the charts, and are some of the best-selling music in history, even today. The dancers in this video are obviously fans of Michael’s “Billie Jean” era.
I’ll admit that the ultimate outcome of this video might be a little bit predictable, but I love it anyway. As an anxious audience murmur can be heard in the background, in anticipation of the next performance, a few grey-haired heads appear around the curtain. Three elderly gentlemen make their way on to the stage. They appear to be struggling, hunched over and holding their backs. They barely make it to the center of the stage.
But, the next thing that you’ll notice is that their outfits look vaguely familiar.
A simple white t-shirt and jeans, white socks, and black shoes. Their costumes are missing something, but the iconic single glove and trademark hat are yet to come.
Oddly, the theme song from Star Wars plays in the background, but that doesn’t last long. It isn’t long before Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” fills the room and the three senior citizens completely transform. What follows is a brilliant, high-energy performance filled with pelvic thrusts and iconic dance moves. These guys are hilariously entertaining and I can’t get enough!
I’ve taken part in so many talent shows in the past, but I don’t think that I have ever come close to performing something THIS entertaining! They had what my teachers used to call a “power-packed routine” — there was drama, dance, energy, humor, and that overall entertainment factor that everyone wants! I only wish that I could be a part of a routine like this! I wonder if they’d consider me to be a part of their group the next time around? I guess they should be forewarned that I would need some training to be brought up to their speed and talent. Hah!
