The climber conquered Mont Blanc and at an altitude of 4,800 meters was surprised to notice that an object resembling a box was visible in the ice. Inside the rusted box were gems. The man was interested in the reason for the appearance of the object upstairs, and he went downstairs and began to study the archives.
Very soon, the climber came to the conclusion that the box had fallen out of a plane that had disappeared over the mountains more than 50 years ago. The inscription on the box “made in India” helped the climber to get on the trail of the plane. Judging by archival records, in 1966, an Indian plane really disappeared over this part of the Alps. The man did not keep the treasure for himself. As befits a respectable Frenchman, he took the box to the police. Local authorities also acted according to the law: for eight years they tried to find the real owner of the jewelry, or his relatives.
But they were not found. The authorities of Chamonix (the commune where Mont Blanc is located), according to the current rules, divided his find in half with the climber. Each costs about 150 thousand euros, the equivalent of 12 million rubles. The treasure found by the climber caused some public excitement. Fortune-catchers have reached out to Mont Blanc, who also want their share of the treasure.
